Former State Hospital Officer Accused of Sexual Misconduct with Minor

Mario Uribe Estrada was facing sex-related charges involving a 14-year-old girl he met outside work.

A man who had been assigned as a police officer to Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk pleaded no contest today to sex-related charges involving a 14-year-old girl he met outside work.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ray Jurado sentenced Mario Uribe Estrada, 41, to three years in state prison immediately after his plea to two counts of lewd act upon a child.

Estrada was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Estrada met the teen through "family and friends," and she was not connected with his place of employment, South Gate Police Capt. Darren Arakawa said shortly after Estrada's May 21 arrest.
