Gang Members Involved in Local Jewelry Snatching Sentenced
The suspects have been convicted to two years in prison.

The South Gate Police Department (SGPD) has informed South Gate Patch Latino that the that alleged gang members that were involved in the robbing of two high-school students on Tweedy Boulevard and Stanford Avenue have been both sentenced to two years in prison.
The incident, was reported by a witness who was able to see the license plate of the getaway vehicle that was used by the suspects after they carried out their theft.

“When police dispatchers broadcasted the robbery information—and prior to the victims being identified and interviewed— detectives responded to an address associated to the suspect vehicle in the city of Los Angeles, ” said a press release issued by the SGPD.
One of suspects in the robbery was arrested shortly after with some of the stolen jewelry. The second suspect was apprehended in the Los Angeles area after being identified by the two victims.

Last May, the jewelry was described as a gold chain by the SGPD. The high price of gold has led the SGPD to warn residents about wearing this precious metal.
“It is a problem that arises every time gold goes up,” said Captain Keith Hupp of the . “The high price of gold has made it a viable target for crooks.”
During the interrogation the two suspects confessed to the crime and to also committing other thefts.
“The suspects confessed to being responsible for committing three additional street robberies,” said the SGPD.
The case was said to have been solved because witnesses collaborated with law enforcement. Police reminds residents about the importance of stepping forward when criminal incidents happen.
“If you witness a crime being committed, do not assume that someone else will notify police,” warned the SGPD on their recent press release.
