Gunfire Injures Two People Sitting in a Vehicle

The victims were passengers in the car parked in the 1000 block of South Grandee Avenue, authorities said.

Two men were wounded by gunfire last night as they sat inside a car parked on the side of a Compton street, a sheriff's lieutenant said.

The men were passengers in the car, parked in the 1000 block of South Grandee Avenue, when someone fired shots into the vehicle at about 9:30 p.m., said Lt. Faye Adragna of the Compton Sheriff's Station.

"The first victim was in his 40s and the second victim was in his mid- 20s," Adragna said. "Both were struck in the lower torso." The woman driving the car was not struck by bullets.

The victims were transported to Harbor UCLA Medical Center where their vital signs were stable, she said.
