Heat Wave Eases but Will Continue into Next Week
The National Weather Service expects lower but still quite similar temperatures for next week.

A heat wave now in its second week and is forecast to go into a third. However it relaxed a bit in part to a weak onshore flow.
The heat is the product of a hot air mass that remains parked over the region, which is not unusual for this time of the year, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

"The only escape from the current heat wave will remain at the beaches, where highs will generally be in the 70s," according to an NWS advisory. "Persons planning to be outdoors through Sunday should practice heat safety tips. Keep your body hydrated with plenty of water and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day."
The forecast for South Gate for today has been listed as high as 96 by several weather servives.

Things are expected to get cooler on the weekend with temperatures dropping to late 80's and early 90's this weekend, according to seveal weather services. However, next week's temperatures will remain above normal, NWS meteorologist Curt Kaplan said.
