Arraignment Delayed for South Gate Teacher Accused of Molesting Student

This past Wednesday, Kip Arnold, 51, a Southeast Middle School physical education teacher that’s accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl, had his arraignment delayed until August 8 by a Downey court. 

and crashed his car crashed into a building.

Police have claimed that Arnold is suicidal.

Arnold is now out of the hospital and fit to face trial

“He is out of the hospital and in county jail,” said Detective Rodrigo Rodarte of the Bell Police Department. “At the arraignment he will enter his plea.”

According to Deputy District Attorney Diana Martinez. Arnold is facing charges that include, several counts a lewd act on a child, oral copulation with a minor, and penetration with a foreign object. He is also facing charges of evading a police officer.

Arnold is accused of having had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl while he was teacher at Nimitz Middle School in Huntington Park between June and September of 2005. The alleged victim, who is now an adult, recently reported the supposed abuse to the Bell Police Department.

“The crime occurred here,” said Det. Rodarte, when asked why the Bell Police Department was in charge of the investigation. “It happened at the Pioneer Motel.”

Reports of a second victim were made by KTLA. However, as of now Arnold is only facing the charges of this one victim.

“A this point we only have one victim,” said Det. Rodarte.

The judge gave Arnold a bail at  $1 million. The accused teacher is facing up to seven years in prison.
