Los Angeles County, along with the rest of the country, is experiencing an increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases. In Lynwood, 3,953 residents have tested positive and 108 have died since the beginning of the pandemic.

County officials are worried the numbers will spike even more as families and friends gather for the Thanksgiving holiday. They are asking all residents to reimage Thanksgiving 2020 to incorporate COVID-19 safety precautions.

Keep Your Celebration Small

It is safest to celebrate Thanksgiving with ONLY those in your household. If you must, you can extend that group to no more than two other households of people with whom your regularly interact.

Celebrate Outside

We are lucky to live in Southern California, where Thanksgiving is often a beautiful, sunny day. If you do invite two households over for turkey, think about dining outside while practicing social distancing.

Have a Big Gathering Online

If you are used to a larger family gathering, get together online using Zoom, FaceTime or other apps. You can coordinate your mealtime so everyone can chat and eat together virtually.

Other things to think about:

  • Wear a mask when not eating or drinking.
  • Maintain a physical distance of six feet.
  • Wash your hands often.
  • Don’t share utensils or drinks
  • Do NOT attend any event if you feel sick.
