Lynwood Unified Celebrates Student Achievement at Summer Graduation
More than 80 students from all the District High Schools fulfilled requirements over the summer to receive their diplomas
Lynwood, Calif. – Friends, family and Lynwood Unified School District staff celebrated the efforts of more than 80 students who completed the requirements for graduation over the summer with a ceremony on Thursday, July 16 at the Marco Antonio Firebaugh High School gym in Lynwood.
Thirty Firebaugh, 39 Lynwood High and 14 Vista and Pathway high school students were honored in the ceremony. Students who successfully completed the required credits they needed for graduation during the summer school session marched in the commencement ceremony.
“Experiencing graduation is important for all of our students,” said Paul Gothold, Lynwood Unified Superintendent. “These students showed commitment and persevered to complete their coursework and deserve to be celebrated. The diploma they receive from high school allows them to make the next step to college or to enter into a career of their choosing.”

The summer commencement adds to the graduation numbers Lynwood Unified had in 2015. Districtwide, the graduation rate is set to climb over 75 percent and is set to surpass 85 percent at the District’s comprehensive high schools – Lynwood and Firebaugh.
“We wish all of our graduates well as they move forward,” said Maria Lopez, Board of Education President. “We hope that they will return to Lynwood and share the knowledge they have gained with our community.”
