Man Shot, Killed at Birthday Party in Willbowbrook ID'd

Witnesses told deputies the victim was celebrating his 39th birthday when the shooting occurred.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Authorities on Monday identified a man who was shot and killed while celebrating his birthday in unincorporated Willowbrook.

The shooting was reported at 9:08 p.m. Friday in the 2600 block of East 129th Street, said Deputy Lisa Jansen of the Sheriff's Information Bureau. Ramiro Lepe, 39, died at a hospital, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Responding deputies found the victim lying in the driveway of his residence on East 129th Street suffering from gunshot wounds.

Witnesses told deputies the victim was celebrating his 39th birthday, and was standing with his brothers and cousin in front of his residence when a car traveling past them stopped. Several men got out of car, and one of them started shooting at the victim and his family with a handgun, striking the victim. The suspects then got back into the car and drove off going west on 129th Street.

The suspects are described as three Hispanic males and the vehicle they were traveling in was described as a red, four-door Toyota Corolla type sedan. Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
