Man, Woman Killed When Car Drove Off Freeway, Struck Tree in Lynwood

LYNWOOD, CA — A man and a woman were killed Monday morning when their vehicle drove off the Long Beach (710) Freeway and struck a tree in Lynwood, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 4:42 a.m. off the northbound Long Beach Freeway just south of Imperial Highway, said California Highway Patrol Officer Stephan Brandt.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, Brandt said. Firefighters were working to extricate the bodies from the vehicle.

An investigation was underway to determine the cause of the crash, he said.
