There is a new residential development, called Calden Court Apartments, that is currently being worked on by AMG Associates LLC on Calden Avenue, in between Firestone Boulevard and Southern Avenue. "This project is undergoing environmental reviews," said Steve Lefever, Director of Community Development for the city of South Gate. "[It is] tentatively set to go before the Planning Commission on August 21." The proposed structure is a 216-unit apartment project comprised of two, three and four bedroom units. The current design shows a single building that is 4 to 5 stories high over a parking lot. The residential complex will also be income restricted and is being designed to house families. Developers are also planning on having two community centers within the development. Open space areas, tot lots and patios will also be built within the project.
