One Dead in Deputy-involved Shooting in Walnut Park

The shooting happened Thursday evening.

One person was killed today in a deputy-involved shooting in the unincorporated Walnut Park area.

No deputies were injured in the shooting about 6:40 p.m. in the 2400 block of Flower Street, between Santa Fe Avenue and Pacific Boulevard, said Deputy Grace Medrano of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Medrano said the suspect’s condition was not available, but firefighters pronounced one person dead at the scene and did not take anyone to a hospital, Robert Diaz, supervising dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives were dispatched to the scene to investigate the shooting, which will also be investigated by the District Attorney’s Office and the Sheriff’s Internal Affairs Bureau, Medrano said.
