Pedestrian Killed on Tweedy Boulevard Sunday Night

Do you recognize the description of the vehicle that fled the scene?

A man was killed Sunday night when he was struck by a car as he crossed a South Gate street and the vehicle fled the scene, a police sergeant said.

The hit and run crash happened at 6:54 p.m. at Tweedy Boulevard and San Vincente Avenue, said South Gate police Sgt. Heriberto Gutierrez.

The victim was walking in a crosswalk when he was struck by the car, Gutierrez said.

“Unfortunately, the subject was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a black or dark gray Nissan four- door sedan, possibly an Altima or Maxima. It was expected to have front end damage, Gutierrez said.
