Police Arrest 3 in Connection with Vehicle Break-Ins

One adult and two juveniles were arrested.

Last Saturday, July 7, 2012, at approximately 3:36 a.m. the South Gate Police Department (SGPD) responded to a call that described suspects breaking into vehicles on the 2600 block of Nebraska Avenue.

The officers set up perimeter around the area, while the suspects were allegedly carrying out the offenses, in order to decrease the chances of their escape.

“Officers tactfully responded and set perimeter to enclose them,” said Lieutenant Frank “Pico” Rivera of the SGPD.

The strategy worked, and the suspects were all apprehended with the help of witnesses, who were willing to give real time information to the police.

“Witnesses relayed the suspects movements through dispatch,” said Lt. Rivera. “The officers were able to move in and catch the suspects in the act.”

Residents were an integral part to the success of this operation, affirmed the SGPD.

“This was commendable work of citizens, working together with the SGPD,” said Lt. Rivera.
