Police Arrest Suspect in Armed Robbery

The robbery took place north of Firestone Boulevard.

This past tuesday, at approximately 7: 38 p.m.,  a male subject robbed a victim of $20 while walking on the Los Angeles River bed bike path just north of Firestone Boulevard. The suspect took out a knife and fled on a bicycle.

The South Gate Police Department responded within minutes of receiving the call and pursued the suspect who attempted to flee. Chasing him along the bike path and over the nearby railroad on foot.

“With the assistance of a police helicopter, the suspect was located on the river bed,” said the police report sent to South Gate Patch Latino.

The suspect was apprehended without complications under Imperial Highway. He is being detained at the South Gate Police station on robbery charges.
