Police Arrest Suspect in Connection to Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Bellflower resident arrested after alleged attack with a bat.

The South Gate Police Department (SGPD) reports that that they have arrested Claudia Morales, 34, a resident of Bellflower, in connection to an alleged assault that took place on the 2700 block of Willow Place at 7:36 p.m. 

“We received a call in regards to a family disturbance or fight,” said this evening's on duty. “Upon our arrival we contacted numerous people and ascertained the following.”

The victim and her sister arrived to an apartment complex located on Willow Place. Police says that a male resident got into an argument with the victim over parking.  

“[Morales] walked behind the victim from the street and struck her in the back of her head with a bat,” said the Watch Commander. “The suspect struck the victim several more times on the lower body.”

The victim’s sister attempted to intervene, but was stopped by the male resident. The supposed attacked allegedly ended when the sister finally got through to Morales and hit her several times in the face.

“[Morales] is under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon,” said the Watch Commander.

The victim was identified by the SGPD as a 25-year-old female resident of Bell.
