Police Searching for Gunman in Fatal Compton Shooting

A motive for the shooting was unknown, and no suspect information was available.

COMPTON, CA - A man was fatally shot on a street in Compton and sheriff's detectives were searching for his killer, authorities said today.

The shooting took place about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 4600 block of East Rosecrans Avenue, said sheriff's homicide Lt. John Corina.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his wounds, Corina said. His name was withheld pending family notification.
