Local Fourth of July Day Celebration is Ready
South Gate Park Fourth of July festivities will include a carnival, baseball games and a fireworks show.

South Gate's long standing Fourth of July Independence Day Celebration will kick-off 10 a.m. on Wednesday with the Junior Athletic Association (JAA) All-star baseball game at South Gate Park.
"It's a great event with a long history," said , South Gate director of parks and recreation, said. "It is a South Gate family tradition."

South Gate’s longstanding 4th of July celebration usually attracts between 25,000 to 30,000 people. However, an even larger crowd is expected, because of many of the surrounding cities cancelled their celebrations because of tight municipal budgets, Adams said.
The celebration will include a fireworks display at 9:00 p.m, as well as 4-day carnival that will open its doors on Wednesday at 1 p.m. A carnival that is complete with rides, midway games, candy apples, popcorn and cotton candy.

The weather is also expected to be pleasantly warm and cool during the evening. Allowing residents to better enjoy all of the offered activities.
"The weather is warm," said Adams. "Families can have a picnic, go to the carnival and enjoy the evening breeze.”
The JAA All-Star baseball game will begin will take place on the diamonds 5-10. The carnival will also begin at 1 p.m. at the corner of Tweedy Blvd. and Hildreth Ave.
