"When (he) arrived at the restaurant ... he was expecting to meet (a) 16-year-old girl he had met on the Internet," according to a sheriff's statement. "During that conversation on social media, Gordon had persuaded her to meet him and to engage in various sex acts with him. Instead of finding the girl he had planned to exploit, he was met by a group of sheriff's human trafficking investigators who arrested him."

Traveling to meet a minor for the purpose of a lewd act is a felony, said Sgt. Chris Sciacca.

"Investigators are active on social media, looking for those who intend to victimize the children in our community," Sciacca said. "These predators must know that we are actively looking to spoil their plans to prey on minors."
