
At approximately 8:00 a.m. the South Gate Police responded to a call from a victim that had just had their car stolen. The incident took place at 3200 block of Liberty Boulevard and occurred after the owner briefly walked away from their 2007 Nissan Altima while it was still running.
“A male suspect entered the car and drove away,” said Lieutenant Jim Teeples of the South Gate Police Department (SGPD)). “Within 15 minutes, officers located the suspect driving [westbound] Firestone Boulevard.”

The suspect was apprehended and arrested for grand theft auto. The car was retrieved and returned to the victim without any damage. The SGPD warns residents to never leave their vehicles unattended with either the key in the ignition and the engine of their vehicle running.
