South Gate Student Wins Latino Caucus Scholarship
South Gate resident Anna Quintanilla awarded California Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation scholarship by Assemblyman Anthony Rendon

South Gate resident Anna Quintanilla was awarded the California Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation scholarship, Assemblyman Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) announced today.
“Anna has overcome a great deal of personal adversity to achieve her impeccable academic record and involvement in the community,” Rendon said. “I am incredibly proud to award this scholarship to a very deserving resident of the Southeast.”
Quintanilla, a resident of South Gate and recent graduate of Camino Nuevo High School, will be applying the scholarship toward her education at Smith College with her goal to become a pediatrician.

Over 350 applications were received during this inaugural year of the scholarship program. Scholarship winners were selected based on a rigorous set of standards; including academic performance, personal statements, extracurricular activities, leadership positions held, special awards and honors received, and work history.
