The LASD reports that Darnell shot the deputy with a shotgun.

Both suspects, Darnell and Tania Washington, are said to have a stolen vehicle and fled the location after the shooting.

The carjacked car was later found in South Gate.

“The suspects abandoned the stolen vehicle in the City of South Gate and carjacked another vehicle,” said the LASD press release.

The second stolen car is a light blue, 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager, with a California license plate that reads #3PHK484.

The suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Therefore, the LASD asks residents to immediately notify the authorities if they spot anything.

“If you see the suspects or vehicle call 9-1-1,” said the LASD statement.
