Suspected Sandwich Thief Waits to Hear His Fate
A South Gate resident and three other Los Angeles County area men, are accused of stealing a sandwich out of a car.

Four men, including a South Gate resident, accused of stealing a sandwich, continue to wait to hear if Orange County District Attorney will press charges for the theft.
Oscar Iglesias, 25, of South Gate, Daniel Garcia, 28, of Chula Vista and 23-year-old Daniel Godinez, and 27-year-old Edwin Yhuit, both of Cud were arrested Aug. 4 on suspicion they stole a sandwich from a car parked in the parking lot of Newport Beach’s Fashion Island.
The case has been forwarded to the DA’s office but the prosecutor is still looking over the case, said Orange County District Attorney Spokesperson Farrah Emami.

Newport Beach Police arrested the men at 6:12 p.m. about 20 minutes after security patrols reported seeing the men looking into cars, said Newport Beach Lt. Evan Sailor.
The men are suspected of casing the cars for valuables, he said.

“It appears they found a car with the window (partially) opened,” Sailor said. One of the men reached in and grabbed it, officers said.
“In this case when the bag happened to contain a sandwich,” he said. One of the men was found with a pocketknife that had a window punch, Sailor said.
