SOUTH GATE, CA – The following is a collection of weekly police, court and fire stories from around the South Gate area this week.

The father of the minor sued to collect the winnings. Now the company that owns the Mobil station where the ticket was sold is countersuing.

The father of the 4-year-old girl, who survived the attack uninjured, told investigators that the man walked up and opened fire unprovoked.

Crews are working to clear the scene.

Police recovered five guns, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and seized plastic bags containing heroin and methamphetamine last week.

A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was dispatched from the Forward Operating Base Mugu.

The rider, a Lomita man, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
