Young Children Dead at 710 Crash Scene
According to authorities the vehicle was speeding when it struck a fence and smashed into a tree.

A 4-year-old boy and a little girl were killed Monday when the vehicle in which they were riding went off the northbound 710 Freeway, struck a tree and hit a fence.
A witness told Patch she heard the crash and ran over to the fence, seeing the overturned vehicle.

The crash occurred near the Imperial Highway interchange, Patch learned at the scene.
The woman, who gave her name only as Jacqueline, told Patch she heard a boy screaming that his brother and sister were dead.
The driver, the children's mother, according to Jacqueline, had a mangled arm.
She and the 8-year-old were taken to area hospitals.
The county coroner was called to send an investigator to the scene.

According to authorities, the black vehicle went off the road, went through a fence and slammed into a tree.
The California Highway Patrol reported that several motorists stopped to assist those trapped inside.
It is unclear how many vehicles were involved and if any other persons were injured.
