According to the preliminary investigation the woman was driving a Mazda 6 when, "for reasons still under investigation, the Mazda traveled right directly toward the left side of the tractor-trailer as it was passing it."

The Mazda then overturned, ending up on its roof, the CHP reported. The trucker was not injured. A witness told the CHP the car was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.
