5 Home Break-Ins, 3 Sex Assaults Reported This Morning In South Pasadena

Two area schools briefly locked down as cops search for the male suspect. Residents advised to not approach the man, but to call police.

SOUTH PASADENA, CA --- South Pasadena police were investigating five residential burglaries and three sexual assaults today in the southern part of the city.

The crimes began about 7:30 a.m., the South Pasadena Police Department reported.

A suspect possibly involved in several of the cases was described as a black man about 18-30 years old, 5 feet 9 to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a light- medium complexion, medium build and short hair with "lines cut in the hair."

He was wearing a blue or gray shirt and baggy shorts, possibly black.

Two schools in the general area where the crimes occurred were locked down briefly while an investigation was conducted. In one case, the suspect was seen armed with a knife, and a knife was recovered at a burglary scene, police said.

The department asks residents who see a subject matching the description to not contact him, but call law enforcement. Anyone with information on the case is urged to call police at (626) 403-7297.
