SOUTH PASADENA, CA — Residents can pick up free compost and mulch on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Arroyo Golf Course parking lot, 1055 Lohman Lane.
The free gardening materials will be available on a self-serve basis. Residents should bring a shovel and sturdy containers, with a limit of two 35-gallon containers per household.
Compost provided by Athens Services is made from decomposed organic materials, including food waste, and helps add nutrients to the soil, according to the city.
The mulch, donated by West Coast Arborists, consists of ground-up tree trimmings or bark. Mulch helps retain soil moisture and prevent weed growth.
Proof of South Pasadena residency, such as an ID or utility bill, is required.
Additional information about compost and mulch is available on the city's website.
