Metro 'Mission' Stop Gets New Name: South Pasadena!

The former Mission stop on the Gold Line has been renamed to reflect our town.

| Updated

South Pas residents will now have a Metro Gold Line stop named after their town thanks to three years of city staff pushing for the change.

Council member Bob Joe, who recently got involved with the project, told Patch the newly named “South Pasadena” stop—formerly the Mission stop—will give the town more of an identity.

"The idea is that more people would be inclined to visit here," said Joe.

The change is only in the beginning stages, and there is a slew of literature and signage that needs to be altered, said South Pasadena's transportation manager Dennis Woods.

Nevertheless, the project was implemented at no costs to the city, he said.

“[The new name] will differentiate South Pasadena from for other places—such as Pasadena—to a worldwide audience who may not know the difference not only between these two cities but other places as well,” added Woods.

"It is a type of branding that the City has been working on for some time now."

Patch Asks: What do you think of the new name? Will it give South Pas more of an identity or will it just confuse commuters?
