Boys Soccer: Colton Barely Defeats South Pas

The final score was 1-0.

While Colton High School didn't control play for long stretches Tuesday, in soccer, only the score matters. And the Yellowjackets had the advantage there when the final whistle was blown.

A goal in about the 73rd minute, coming after a long throw in, propelled the Yellowjackets, the third place team from the San Andreas League, into the quarterfinals of the Division 5 CIF-Southern Section Ford Championships, as they defeated South Pasadena High School, 1-0.

South Pasadena, which finished third in the Rio Hondo League but defeated Garden Grove, 1-0, in a wild-card game and Inglewood Animo Leadership, 3-2, in the first round, finished 13-4-4.
