FREE CONCERT AT SOUTH PASADENA LIBRARY ON AUGUST 30 AT SOUTH PASADENA LIBRARY
Free 'End of Summer' Concert at South Pasadena Library at 5 pm on 8/30
The South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC) in partnership with the South Pasadena
Public Library and the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library is
presenting the 2nd Annual “End of Summer Concert Celebration” on
Thursday, August 30 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at 1115 El Centro Street outside of
the Library Community Room, adjacent to the Farmers’ Market. The free concert
will feature the GRAMMY® nominated band, Lisa Haley & the Zydecats.
It’s suggested that audience members bring a chair or blanket.
Blue Fiddle Records recording artists, Lisa & the Zydecats, combine the
multi-faceted musical genres of Americana, Cajun, Irish/Celtic, World/Pop,
Folk/Bluegrass, as well as Blues and Jazz, and they are well versed in them
all. The power in Lisa’s strong vocals and family songs and stories conveys an
evocative cultural journey that radiates with emotion.
At age 17, with the Hollywood music scene as her music director, Lisa turned down a classical music college scholarship in favor of her more passionate calling.
As a member of the surrounding Louisiana-expatriate community, Lisa flourished
under the mentorship of several Cajun/Zydeco accordion legends: Queen Ida,
GRAMMY® Winner Danny Poulard (40 year resident of San Francisco,) and Joe
Simien (50 year resident of South Los Angeles). She has also worked with
multi-GRAMMY® winning producer Keb’Mo', Queen Ida, Brian Setzer, John Hiatt,
Randy Newman, Lyle Lovett, Taj Mahal, Dave Koz, and, Rockin' Sydney.
