At 5:15 p.m. GRAMMY®-winning composer, pianist, and singer John Proulx, who
resides in South Pasadena, will perform his special brand of ear-pleasing jazz.
His piano playing is hot and swinging and his voice has been compared to that
of a young Chet Baker. John’s three CDs, which feature stellar supporting
casts, have garnered national and international acclaim. Jazz legend Nancy
Wilson recorded “These Golden Years,” a song that John co-wrote, for her 2006
GRAMMY-winning CD, “Turned to Blue.”
Pianist David Batt, who has recorded a total of 4 CDs under his own name and his
pseudonym Yrsan Daro, will follow at 6:15 p.m. with a set of solo blues-based
improvisations. David recorded a CD during his performance at the festival last
year and it’s available for checkout from the Library collection. By the way,
David also performs during each work week as the Assistant Finance Director for
the City of South Pasadena.
