Patch Blog: Beat The Heat With a Frozen Treat!

With the sudden spike in heat, I thought we should open up the forum to discuss our favorite hot weather treats. Here are a few places around town where you can cool down with a frozen treat.

Not sure if you've noticed. But it's HOT this week!

With the sudden spike in heat, I thought we should open up the forum to discuss our favorite summer treats. Here are a few places around town where you can cool down with a frozen favorite.

Fro-Local:  1006 Mission Street is an absolute South Pasadena staple. They serve amazing frozen drinks, Italian Ices and Fosselmen's Ice Cream which is locally made.

Shake Things Up: The absolute best milkshake it town can be found at , 1526 Mission Street. Shakes or malts are handspun by your own very sweet soda jerk. Their banana split is also worth splitting with someone special.

Coffee Kick:  1019 El Centro Street is a favorite amongst South Pasadena Locals. Their darling coffee shop was recently featured on and their passion for coffee and tea come across with the amazing frozen drinks they blend. My personal favorite is the iced chai latte.

Build Your Own: opened a location at 1040 Mission Street. With multiple flavors, toppings and a build-you-own serving style, kids and adults alike will enjoy creating their own frozen concoctions.

A New Favorite: 1105 Fair Oaks Ave, opened recently and offers a variety of not-fat, dairy free, sugar free, original tart frozen yogurt and ice cream.

The Old Standby: 432 Fair Oaks Ave. While I'm not generally a fan of recommending a huge franchise, Baskin Robbin's classic 31 flavors remind me of my childhood. I love to double up with a two kid size scoops - one pistacchio almond and one peanut butter chocolate.

Up The Road: If you're willing to make the drive into Pasadena, there are two places not to be missed. 21 Choices 85 West Colorado Blvd, which takes mix in's to a whole new level and Tutti Gelati 62 West Union Street which will transport you to Italy with their creamy and flavorful gelato.

What is your favorite frozen treat and where do you go to get it?
