A Captivating Winter Arts Crawl in South Pasadena

South Pasadena, CA - Artists and businesses are teamed up to host another multi-sensory experience at the next quarterly South Pasadena Arts Crawl on February 21.

This free “night on the town” will offer open galleries, art activities and live musical performances, as well as late hours and discounts in dozens of unique retail locations.Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and produced by SPACE, South Pasadena’s Arts Crawl events showcase artists and musicians and highlight the city’s incomparable business district, distinguishing South Pasadena as an unrivaled cultural community. Some highlights planned for the Winter Arts Crawl:
Talent Show: The South Pasadena Arts Council, in partnership with the Fremont Centre Theatre, presents an evening of entertainment featuring community performers who are singers, dancers, musicians, comedians, storytellers, and actors.

Musical Performances: The South Pasadena Library Community Room presents jazz at 7 p.m. with trumpeter and flugelhorn player Mark Hatch and vocalist Chazz Frichtel, plus very special guests. All along Mission Street, pop up bands and ensembles will play, including T-Mac (Taylor Plenn and Mac Hill) performing their improvisational jazz funk in front of the Dinosaur Farm from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., Flood and the Bounty (Stan Thiel, Alexei Schatz and Evan Penza) an alt country rock trio and Pieces of My Heart (Deb McCurdy, Dublin Galyean and Randy Nerenberg) playing Americana tunes.
Artists and Galleries: Grassroots Natural Market and Kitchen (1119 Fair Oaks Ave.), a newcomer to the Crawl, will showcase three local artists: painter Nick Osti; illustrator Noel Farias; and Manny Torres, who creates laser cut wood pieces. Video artist Paul Berry, in partnership with Videotheque (1020 Mission St.), will create performance art pieces of film and music at one or more locations along Mission Street throughout the evening. Centre Barre (1015 Mission St.) will highlight oil paintings and sketches from local artist Ann Elizabeth Sobieski, who will also facilitate a drawing/painting workshop for children and adults.
Family Arts and Crafts: Let there be light! Festoon your own colorful Chinese lantern with paint, ribbon and paper in celebration of Kung Hei Fat Choi (Chinese New Year). At South Pasadena City Hall, 5:30 – 8:00 pm.
Many Arts Crawl galleries and businesses are located on Mission Street, with others on Fremont Avenue and Meridian Avenue. Patrons can park in the SPUSD Administration parking lot, between Fairview and Diamond. South Pasadena can also be reached easily via the Metro Gold Line at South Pasadena Station.

South Pasadena Historical Museum/Ironworks Building (913 Meridian Ave) displays a permanent collection of artifacts from the earliest history of South Pas and more.
