Did you Catch a Glimpse of Filming in South Pas?
The ABC show "Jane by Design" was filmed on El Centro Street Monday.
Most Southern California residents know what is about to happen when "no parking" signs pop around the neighborhood.
Soon enough, huge white trucks bearing a myriad of cameras, lights and other equipment will be pulling up; frenzied crew members will be hurrying around shouting on-set film jargon, and many will begin to hope they spot a glimpse of their neighbor's front yard in Hollywood's next summer blockbuster.
On Monday, South Pasadena residents again could revel in that Southern California tradition of movie gawking as ABC Family's new TV show Jane by Design was filmed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in central South Pasadena.

Starting the day off at the intersection of Mission and Meridian, the film crew moved on to El Centro Street between Meridian Avenue and Diamond Avenue, and finished up filming sequences on Diamond Avenue.
In the show, high school student Jane Quimby (played by Erica Dasher) is hired as an assistant to a high-powered fashion executive through a series of misunderstandings. Now, having to brave the terrifying realities of both High School and Manhattan, she must keep her two lives separate.

Taking advantage of the town's abundance of Middle America and Northeastern-looking buildings, the show decided to relocate the Big Apple to sunny South Pas. Shops and businesses were redressed—particularly , whose front awning was turned into a flower shop, creating a location for the protagonist to demand petunias.
For this shoot, film makers had about 100 crew in tow, in addition to about 25 extras hired in non-speaking roles to fill the scenes. The pilot episode (the current filming is for episode No. 3) was also filmed in South Pasadena, on Meridian Avenue and on Glendon Way.
According to crew members, Olivia's Garden, as Firefly has been named in this parallel universe, is a recurring location. So since every episode requires about eight days of filming, and ABC Family has ordered 12 episodes of the show, you can expect to see film crews back in South Pasadena throughout the summer.
