Don't Get Caught in the 'Rose Jam' 210 Freeway Closure this Weekend
The Foothill (210) Freeway will close down this weekend for 34 hours.
PASADENA, CA - Motorists in the Pasadena area will have to contend with another closure on the Foothill (210) Freeway this weekend, this time on the eastbound side of the roadway.
All eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway will be closed between Mountain Street and Lake Avenue beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, and continuing for 34 hours. The freeway is scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.
The eastbound 210 connector to the westbound Ventura (134) Freeway will also be closed, along with the eastbound 210 on-ramps at Lincoln Avenue and Mountain Street.

The closure -- following two recent 55-hour closures on the westbound freeway in the same area -- is part of an effort to repair and repave the roadway.
According to Caltrans, the freeway's use as a major connector between Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties means the "road has experienced extensive wear."

"The closures are part of a $148.5 million pavement rehabilitation project in both directions of I-210 in the cities of Glendale, La Canada Flintridge and Pasadena," according to Caltrans. "Once the project is completed in 2019 the new surface will provide a smoother, safer drive for motorists, reduce time required for maintenance and minimize the need for further lane closures."
