Pottery Demonstrations at Fremont Gallery

Two incredible master potters from Mata Ortiz, Mexico will demonstrate their art Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at —a rare opportunity to see two internationally-known artists in action!

You can expect:

  • A demonstrate on how the pottery is hand-formed without the aid of a potter’s wheel, and how the pottery is painted with homemade paint brushes crafted of human hair.
  • Discussion on the use of natural pigments and minerals in crafting unique natural paints, and the traditional method of firing the pottery without the use of a modern kiln.
  • Three of the artists’ children will also be present, two of whom are very fine potters as well. Their youngest son, Jose Carlo, won the best young artist award for his pottery during a previous juried art show in Mata Ortiz.
  • Many beautiful examples of work available for purchase throughout the weekend.
