Pasadena Buddhist Temple Obon

Obon is the Japanese Buddhist festival that honors the memory of relatives and friends.   The Pasadena Buddhist Temple welcomes all to attend this "Celebration of Joy" in gratitude to all of our predecessors who have enabled us to enjoy the life we live today. Our Obon Festival centers around the Bon Odori (Obon Dances).   Everyone is invited to join in to "just dance" and be accepted as we are.  Dancing starts at 6:30 pm.  On Saturday the 2012 Nisei Week Festival Court, including Miss Pasadena Japanese Cultural Institute, will visit and participate in the Obon dancing.

In addition to the dancing, there will be food booths, martial arts demonstrations, exhibits of bonsai and ikebana (flower arranging), craft vendors, a silent auction featuring some Japanese antiques, Bingo  and taiko (Japanese drum) performances.  The temple sanctuary will be open for viewing and tour from 5:30-6:30.

This is a two-day event, July 14-15, 2012.  Please visit our temple website for more information: www.PasadenaBuddhistTemple.org.
