Photo Gallery: South Pasadena's Little League Season Opens

The official opening ceremony over the weekend signaled that it's time for the city's youth to play ball.

One of the city's premiere events, the South Pasadena Little League opening, took place Saturday at the diamond in the Arroyo.

The opening ceremonies were again attended by every prominent person in town, from elected officials to volunteers and, of course, the youngsters who will be playing the national pastime.

Players, coaches and sponsors lined up along the infield to hear an array of speakers. Recognitions were also made to a championship team, as well as scrolls presented by state officials.

Among the elected officials attending were: Congressman Adam Schiff, state senator Kevin de Leon and assemblyman Anthony Portantino. Every South Pasadena city official was also in attendance including members of the council, mayor, city manager and more.

Former Dodgers general manager Fred Claire was the keynote speaker and threw out the ceremonial first pitch. After the conclusion of the opening ceremonies, play got underway.
