Professor Matt Ritter Will Extol the Virtues of Trees at Library on June 21 at 4:00 p.m.

Matt Ritter, author of “A Californian’s Guide to the Trees Among Us” will speak at an afternoon author event in the Community Room on Saturday, June 21 at 4:00 p.m.  The free program for all ages is sponsored by the South Pasadena Public Library, the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, South Pasadena Beautiful, and the Pasadena Chapter of the Sierra Club. At the conclusion of a lively presentation and an audience interactive Q &A, Matt will lead a Tree Walk around the Library Park,  home to a splendid canopy of 17 different tree species, including the gigantic Moreton Bay Fig he calls “a magnificent specimen.” 

Matt Ritter possesses a Ph.D. and is a Botany professor at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He also holds a fellowship at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens and serves as the chair of the City of San Luis Obispo Tree Committee.

The Community Room is located at 1115 El Centro Street in South Pasadena.  Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. The program is free and no tickets or reservations are necessary. Refreshments will be served and autographed books will be available for purchase. Special thanks to Heyday Books.
