Run, Run as Fast as You Can - Catching up with SPMS' Cross Country Teams
SPMS Booster Club

With the help from membership revenue and fundraisers, the SPMS Booster Club supports a number of sports at the middle school. One of which is the SPMS Tiger Cub Cross Country Team. The team, comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys and girls, competed in three exciting league meets this month. The Boys Team took 1st on October 8 in Hahamongna Park. Stand out runners included Sam Clark, Scott Cross and Sage Pierone. The Girls Team finished 5th overall with great races from Jessica Lat, Teryn Kum, Elizabeth Bock, Charis Au, Amber Gonzalez-Pacheco, Vanessa Maradiaga and Caroline Liebe. On October 17, the team raced at the grueling Mt. SAC Invitational. Each race featured about 30 teams and 200 runners. Clark and Pierone brought home top 15 medals. For the Girls Team, Elizabeth Bock placed 32nd. The 6th grade boys were the highest placing team for South Pasadena with a 4th place finish. Most recently, on October 22 at Garfield Park, the team raced against La Canada and Huntington Middle School. Pierone fell behind the leaders at the ½ mile mark, but made an amazing comeback to win by a fraction of a second. Clark placed 3rd, Cross 4th, Nicolo Porcu was 6th, Tianhao Wei 7th and Dillon Hagasian 8th.The Girls Team placed 2nd to La Canada and ahead of Huntington Middle School and leading the way was Kum. Bock, Au, Jessica Lat and Gonzales-Pacheco also ran great races. Athletes abound at SPMS. Thanks for supporting the SPMS Booster Club to help make the races a reality.
