Search Continues for South Pasadena Home Invasion Robbers

South Pasadena - Police continued their search today for two men who broke into a South Pasadena home, terrorizing an 83-year-old homeowner, but stealing nothing.

Officers were called to the victim's home in the 1700 block of Bank Street about 10:30 p.m. Sunday and learned the man was home alone sleeping in an upstairs bedroom when he was awakened by two male suspects, South Pasadena police said.

They shone flashlights in his face and repeatedly demanded he direct them to his money, police said.
"The resident told them he didn't have any money," police said. "The suspects dragged him out of bed and covered him with the mattress he was sleeping on and told him to count to 200 before moving. The suspects then ransacked the bedroom and left the residence."

They took nothing, but the victim suffered superficial wounds to his arm and forehead and was treated at the scene, police said.

The suspects used a screwdriver to force open the home's kitchen door.

The victim waited at least 20 minutes before calling authorities and there was no sign of the suspects by the time they arrived.

Police said the shaken man called family members before calling 911.
