Sitter Who Left Boy In 120-Degree Car For Hours Sentenced
Helen Law left a six-year-old boy in a hot car for nearly two hours while she shopped and dined at a restaurant.

ALHAMBRA, CA - An Alhambra babysitter who left a little boy locked in a hot car for roughly twos hour while she dined at a restaurant pleaded no contest Friday to misdemeanor child endangerment Friday.
Helen Law, 60, was immediately ordered to complete parenting classes and placed on three years probation. Superior Court Judge Cathryn Brougham also ordered Law to abide by a 10-year criminal protective order involving the boy, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Law was babysitting a six-year-old boy on June 12 when she left him in a car parked in the 700 block of East Valley Boulevard in Alhambra while she ran errands and went into a restaurant to eat lunch. Someone walking by noticed the little boy and called police. Officers arrived to find the boy drenched in sweat and crying. The car had heated up to 120 degrees. Police were able to open the car and rescue the boy.

"While the officers were investigating the whereabouts of the child's parents, they came in contact with a female claiming she was the child's babysitter,"Alhambra police Lt. Eddie Elizalde said when Law was arrested.
"It was determined that the babysitter had left the child in the car while she ran errands and ate at a nearby restaurant. Officers were able to establish that the child was left inside the locked car for almost two hours."
