South Pas DUI Checkpoint on Fair Oaks (Photos)
Utilizing a grant, local police checked for auto violations and suspected drunk drivers at a checkpoint adjacent to the War Memorial Building on Friday night.
Officers of the SPPD manned a checkpoint looking for DUI suspects and other vehicle violations on Fair Oaks Friday night from 8pm until 2 a.m. Saturday morning.
Numerous violators were stopped an detained and some arrests were made for DUI.
The department used a state grant for the purpose of these checkpoints. Drivers were stopped briefly and questioned and usually sent on their way on the busy thoroughfare. Those stopped were processed at the scene at a mobile command post.
