South Pasadena Man Crushed When Car Falls On Him

A 33-year-old South Pasadena man, who was working under his car when it fell crushing him, was identified by authorities.

SOUTH PASADENA, CA — A 33-year-old South Pasadena man was crushed Monday when his car fell on him as he was working under it. No one saw the accident, and the man died at the scene.

Authorities Tuesday identified Justin Hakola, who was working underneath the car when it killed him.

Hakola died at the scene in the 1300 block of Fremont Avenue at about 1 p.m. Monday, according to the coroner's office.

Hakola was repairing his 1998 Acura Integra when it accidentally crushed him, police said.

"At this time, there were no other vehicles involved, and there were no witnesses to the event," according to a police statement. "Prior to the accident, a witness stated that they saw the victim working on his vehicle in the street."
