The California Young Reader Medal (CYRM) program encourages recreational reading of popular literature by the young people of our state. Since its inception in 1974, millions of California children have nominated, read, and voted for the winners of the California Young Reader Medal.
During the week of March 8th – March 13th, the South Pasadena Public Library will present a week of virtual storytimes featuring the CYRM Primary Book nominees. Each story reading video will be available on the Library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel each day at 10:30 a.m.

Children and teens are invited to cast their ballot and vote for the nominees. Youth may read and vote for books in any and all categories, but they must read all the books nominated in a category to be eligible to vote. The CYRM website at www.californiayoungreadermedal.org/nominees offers a full list of the nominees, as well as more information about the CYRM program. Copies of all of the current contenders are available to check out from the Library. Voting concludes on Wednesday, March 31st.
