This is a mainly volunteer organization that is part of a national network that recruits, trains and supervises people who work as advocates for children in court supervision and the foster care system in Los Angeles County.
As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) you are assigned to the case of a child the care of the court, usually because of neglect, abuse, or abandonment.

You are appointed as an officer of the court and as such have access to official files and school and medical records that help you work with the court and the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services to insure the well being of a child.
It is a rewarding and challenging volunteer opportunity.
