SPACE Porpita Society Art Show
Please join us at SPACE for Stretch, our second annual Porpita Society Art Show on February 7th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
The Porpita Society is the self-titled name of the high school art club at SPACE which offers students age 14 and up a bimonthly gathering for creative expression in a safe and caring atmosphere.
Led by adult facilitator/mentors Marie Miller and Sarah Shreves, the group allows for experimentation and the pursuit of all passions in a variety of visual arts media as well as the literary arts. The club, which meets every first and third Friday, and is free of charge, draws inspiration from field trips to working artists’ studios to see real world applications of creative professions, working on murals and interactive art pieces for community art events, and is planning a day trip to the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Gardens.
Each year, SPACE offers the students an annual professional art exhibit to share their artwork with the community. This year’s theme, chosen by the students, is “Stretch”. We hope you will invite your friends and family to attend the opening on Feb. 7. The show runs through Saturday, Feb. 21, closing in conjunction with the South Pasadena Arts Crawl.
