SPMS Track Team Update

SPMS Tiger Cubs win big across all levels!

As told by SPMS track’s Coach Wielenga:

On the 8th grade girls team, Julianne Anuakapado was first place in the 100 and and Gina Catania was 3rd. Julianne was on the winning 4x400 relay and Gina took second in the high jump and on the winning 4x 400 relay. Uma Hornish was first in the 400, second in the 800 and on the winning 4x400 meter relay. Rachel Gray won the long jump, took second in the triple jump and fourth in the 400 and was on the winning 4x200 relay. Christine Taylor won the 200 and fourth in the long jump while Olivia Johnson placed third in the 800 and Meghana Sagare placed third in the 200. Rita Mastramatteo placed third in the Triple jump.

The 6/7 grade girls beat both Huntington and La Canada with many strong performances. Corey Segal took second in the 100. Erin Rose Anuakapado placed third in the 100 and helped the 4x100 relay take first. Amber Pacheco Gonzales-Pacheco placed 3rd in the 1600 and 4th in the 800. Charis Au was 4th in the 1600. Jessica Lat wast 3rd in the 400 and 800, second in the high jump and on the winning 4x400 relay. Yael Jashion-Nelson placed 2nd in the 400 and was on the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Waka Odagiri scored points taking 3rd in the 200, first in the long jump and carried the baton on the first place 4x100 relay. Allie Poloni took a strong 2nd in the 200 while in the long jump Kimberly Hsueh placed second and Anne Guevara placed 4th.

The 8th grade boys beat La Canada with Rico Hernandez taking 3rd in the 100 and second in the 200. Kai Detman was close behind Rico placing 4th in the 200.

The 6/7 grade boys also beat both Huntington and La Canada. Alex Reeves won the 100. Sam Clark won the 1600, the 800 and was on the second place 4x400 relay. Anthony Uriarte won both the long jump and the triple jump. Braden Wong was 2nd in the triple jump and 3rd in the 200. Earl Tizon took 2nd in the long jump, 3rd in the high jump and was on the winning 4x400 relay. Kevin Kang took second in the high jump. Pieter Wielenga placed 4th in the 1600 while Colin Grace was 3rd. Grace also took 3rd in the 800 and Blake Rogers was close behind in 4th. Blake also was 3rd in the long jump making it a 1, 2, 3, sweep. Nick Owens scored in the 400 with a 3rd place and in the High jump with a 4th place.Ian McLain took 3rd in the triple jump completing another 1, 2, 3 sweep for South Pasadena. NIck Kalaw also scored by placing 4th in the 400.

Overall, the Tiger Cubs had great performances in their first meet and anxiously await the next two meets.
