Time to Create
Thursday, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., meets 6 weeks, starts April 14
Join us in creating a story built from your imagination, materials and hands. In this six week series we will take on three projects; paint/cut, textiles/stitch, wood/build. Here you will have the opportunity to experiment and explore your own personal collection of materials, along with all that SPACE's studio has to offer. We will look at artists who made it onto the pages of art books and along with those I admire on Instagram; Pae White, Sarajo Frieden, Louise Bourgouis, Tina Lynnville, Louise Nevelson, Luke O'Sullivan and more. It's Time to Create!
Teacher: Danielle B. Ashton

Writing Lab for Adults
Tuesdays, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., starts April 11, for 6 weeks
Every week, writers will engage in rigorous writing prompts that break it down to the basics—character, dialogue, setting, and narrative arc. No matter what kind of writing you hope to do, whether it's poetry, journalism, short stories, or screenplays, jumpstarting your project with a combination of free writing and polishing with these elements can help you get motivated and start (or finish) your projects. We'll have in-class exercises devoted to helping you focus on details, with weekly optional readings to help illuminate what we worked on each week. By the end of the class, you should have at least 6 pieces or ideas to cull from that'll help you along on your journey outside of the class.
Teacher: Alison Bell
Fee: $240.00
Mindful Drawing
Teens and Adults
Wednesdays, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., starts April 13, for 6 weeks
This class is designed to cultivate a mindful, open and spontaneous practice of drawing based on contemplative repetition, clarity of vision and surprise. Students will be introduced to new techniques for generating non-representational drawings through patterned mark-making designed to shift the process of drawing away from premeditated control and toward free-flowing spontaneity. As these techniques are mastered, they will be combined with methods from previous classes utilizing new materials, such as watercolor, textured paper or collage. Techniques may include mandalas, flowing line drawings and isometric perspective drawings.
