Sunday Morning Car Collision on Fair Oaks Investigated as Assault with Deadly Weapon
According to South Pasadena Police, a 27-year-old male suspect allegedly intentionally rammed his vehicle into the vehicle of a woman driving on Fair Oaks Avenue Sunday morning, causing injuries to the victim and a passenger in her car.

Police received the call at 6:23 a.m. Witnesses told police the suspect rammed his vehicle into the victim's vehicle more than two times, causing it to lose control and hit a tree in the median of Fair Oaks Avenue in front of . "We are investigating it as an assault with a deadly weapon," said Sgt. Brian Solinksky of the South Pasadena Police Department.
The two victims--a 23-year-old female driver and a 35-year-old male passenger--were injured and transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital.

"An argument between the suspect and one of the victims led up to the collisions," said South Pasadena Police Detective Mike Palmieri. "The suspect and the victims knew each other," he said. According to police, the suspect and the victim, both from Los Angeles, were formerly in a relationship and had a child together. The suspect followed the female victim in his vehicle and allegedly hit her car multiple times on purpose, police said.
Detective Palmieri said he coincidentally saw the victims looking through discards in the dumpster area near during an early morning patrol around 4:50 a.m. "There was a conversation on the phone between the victim and the suspect and the suspect showed up," Palmieri said.

After the collision, police took the male suspect into custody at the South Pasadena Police Department's holding facility. Police are currently transporting him to L.A. County Jail, Det. Palmieri said. The male passenger in the victim's car was released from the hospital earlier today. Both victims suffered internal injuries, police said.
